Lenovo ThinkPad P40 Yoga Drivers, BIOS Update, Software Download for Windows 10 64 Bit – The P40 Yoga’s chassis immediately displays its familiar ThinkPad identity with its black surfaces, metal hinges, and the iconic red TrackPoint in the center of the keyboard. While the design is subjective, the device seamlessly integrates into a productive environment. Constructed with a carbon-fiber magnesium alloy, the case is intended to provide high durability. However, similar to the ThinkPad Yoga 14, there are unexpected issues considering the price point.
The lid is relatively thick, yet even slight pressure or attempts to twist it result in visible screen ripples and audible creaking. The base unit fares slightly better but still exhibits creaking. The keyboard area is prone to slight dents, and the function keys, in particular, produce noticeable noise. This could be attributed to the Lift’n’Lock feature of the keyboard, where the frame is elevated, but it negatively affects the overall impression of quality. As with all Yoga models, the P40 Yoga offers four different operating modes (notebook, tent, stand, and tablet), although the tent and stand modes are primarily intended for media consumption.
However, the weak hinges cause significant bouncing when using touch inputs. Consequently, during the review, we primarily utilized the P40 Yoga as a notebook or tablet. It’s worth noting that using it as a tablet can be inconvenient due to its high weight of nearly 1.9 kg, which becomes noticeable after a short while. However, not everything is negative. The black surfaces have a slightly textured feel, minimizing issues with fingerprints. The digitizer can be conveniently stored inside the chassis and charges simultaneously. While there is no maintenance hatch, the entire bottom cover can be removed, providing access for further exploration, as discussed later.
